Connect CannMenus to ChatGPT
Set up CannMenus as a live data source in ChatGPT. Ask about brands, pricing, and distribution in plain English.
What This Does
Connecting CannMenus to ChatGPT gives you a direct line to real-time cannabis market data inside your ChatGPT conversation. No dashboards, no exports - just ask questions in plain English and get answers pulled from live menu, pricing, and distribution data. CannMenus connects via the Model Context Protocol (MCP), which ChatGPT supports for external tools.
MCP Server URL
This is the only URL you need. Copy it and follow the steps below.
How to Connect
Step 1
Open ChatGPT Settings
Go to chatgpt.com, click your profile icon in the top-right corner, then click Settings.
Step 2
Navigate to Connectors
In Settings, find the Connectors or MCP Servers section (under Features or Beta features, depending on your plan).
Step 3
Add the CannMenus Server
Click Add connector or Add MCP Server. Enter "CannMenus" as the name and paste this URL: https://api.cannmenus.com/mcp/ — then click Save.
Step 4
Authorize with Your CannMenus Account
ChatGPT will open a CannMenus login page. Sign in with your CannMenus account (the same one you use at cannmenus.com). This links your data permissions automatically via OAuth.
Step 5
Start a New Conversation
Open a new ChatGPT conversation. Make sure the CannMenus connector is enabled in your tool/plugin list before asking your question. Then ask about cannabis market data - ChatGPT will call CannMenus tools automatically.
Example Prompts to Try
Tips
- "What are the top 5 edible brands in California by retailer count?"
- "Which dispensaries in Colorado dropped Wyld products this month?"
- "Compare pricing for 1g vape carts in Michigan vs Illinois"
- "Show me brands gaining distribution in Florida"
- "What's the average flower price in Oregon right now?"
- "Run a gap analysis for Cookies in California - where do competitors have shelf space but Cookies doesn't?"
Which Model to Use
Tips
- GPT-4o: Best for most CannMenus queries. Handles multi-step analysis well and is fast.
- o3: Use for complex reasoning tasks like building market reports or comparing trends across multiple states and time periods.
- GPT-4o mini: Good for quick single lookups but may struggle with complex multi-tool workflows.
Tips and Best Practices
Tips
- Always mention the state in your question. CannMenus data is organized by state, and queries without a state will be slower or fail.
- Make sure the CannMenus connector is active before asking. Check your tool/plugin list at the start of each conversation.
- You can ask follow-up questions - ChatGPT remembers the context of your conversation. Drill down with "Now break that down by category" or "Compare that to last month."
- Be specific: "Top 10 flower brands in Illinois by sales, last 30 days" works better than "Tell me about Illinois cannabis."
- For competitive analysis, name both brands: "Compare Stiiizy vs Raw Garden distribution in California" triggers the right tools automatically.
