CannMenus Best Dispensaries in Illinois - February 2022
Over the past two years, we’ve seen the number of dispensaries in Illinois grow from 55 retail locations under the old medical system to the 110+ retailers currently spread across the Prairie State. The retail landscape in Illinois is currently dominated by just a handful of large dispensary chains, with only a few independent dispensary operators still around today - although this picture is constantly changing.
We decided to take a closer look at Illinois cannabis retailers and their product selections to answer these questions:
- Which dispensaries in Illinois offer the widest range of cannabis products?
- How does each dispensary chain charge for different types of cannabis products?
- Which of these dispensaries feature the best online customer reviews?
We started by looking at the average number of unique products and average pricing for each dispensary chain across several categories. We then took a look at which chains have the most reviews and the highest average rating across all of their locations.
It’s important to note that the numbers presented in this article are based on data from February of 2022 and that these numbers are subject to constant change. All pricing data shared is pre-tax, so you can expect final pricing at each retailer to differ from the averages shared in this article - sometimes significantly.

1. Sunnyside
Sunnyside, operated by Cresco Labs, is one of the largest dispensary chains in Illinois - with ten locations across the state and six locations in the greater Chicago area alone. One that stands out is their impressive 10,000 square foot Wrigleyville location, conveniently located right next to Wrigley Field.
Sunnyside tops multiple of our “best of” list for a few reasons aside from their impressive Wrigleyville location, as they currently offer the best product selection out of any dispensary chain in Illinois across several categories. Sunnyside currently offers more cannabis products for sale across all product types than any other dispensary chain we measured - with an astounding 1080 product per-location average. Sunnyside dispensaries also hold the title for the best flower selection of any dispensary brand in Illinois with an average of more than 260 unique flower products currently available for sale per location. Sunnyside’s flower selection stands at a relatively low average price of $48.58 per eighth, and for concentrates, the average price per gram comes in around $59.
Sunnyside's locations boast an average customer rating of 4.13 out of 5 - clearly a fan favorite for multiple reasons!

2. RISE
Coming in at #2 on our list is Illinois dispensary behemoth RISE, a retail brand by Illinois-based MSO Green Thumb (GTI). You’ll find RISE dispensaries in 13 different states, with nine locations across Illinois including six dispensaries in the greater Chicago area. RISE Mundelein is particularly unique in that it features one of the State’s first cannabis consumption lounges on location.
RISE has an excellent product assortment, with more than 754 different products available per location. RISE currently rules the state in terms of concentrate selection, featuring an average of nearly 150 different types of concentrate products on their menus per location. They also have one of the best selections of pre-rolled joints, with more than 95 different pre-roll products for sale per location. Within the vape category, RISE offers a strong product selection of over 150 different vape products per location - second only to Sunnyside.
Expect a fairly typical average price-per-eighth of $50.33 for raw cannabis flower at your nearest Illinois RISE dispensary, and for concentrates, the average price per gram across their locations currently stands at $61.12.
It’s no surprise that RISE has a very high average online rating across their Illinois locations - earning an impressive average rating of 4.7/5.0 through over 25,000 customer reviews.

With locations in eight different US states, the notorious MedMen almost needs no introduction. While MedMen currently only operates a single retail storefront in Illinois, you’ll find many more locations while traveling across California, Nevada, Arizona, Florida, New York, and Massachusetts.
MedMen’s Oak Park, Illinois location offers a wide selection of more than 750 different cannabis products for sale - one of the best product selections in the State. MedMen’s Oak Park location seems to be doing a solid job of keeping their customers happy, with an average online rating of 4.6/5.0 from over 300 reviews.
The average price per 1/8th of flower at MedMen Oak Park stands at a respectable $50.35, and for concentrates, the average price per gram comes in at $61.38.

4. Beyond / Hello
Beyond/Hello currently operates four different locations all in central and southern Illinois, with two locations in the Bloomington/Normal area and two more in Sauget, Illinois.
You can expect to find an excellent product selection at Beyond/Hello, coming in at #4 on our list with over 670 different products available for sale per location.
Beyond/Hello currently offers some of the best prices for flower and concentrates out of all dispensary chains in Illinois that we looked at - with an average of just $47.91 per eighth ounce of flower and $53.37 per gram for concentrates.
With such great pricing and selection, it’s no surprise that Beyond/Hello currently has a strong average rating of 4.73/5.0 through over 5000 online reviews across its locations.

Although there are only two locations in the Chicagoland area, don’t sleep on dispensary brand Hatch (formerly Mindful MMJ). Hatch takes the #5 spot on our list, offering an impressive selection of over 600 products per location. Hatch’s original location in Addison caters to both medical and recreational buyers and opened a second 5,800-square-foot recreational location in Wheeling in 2021.
Hatch offers competitive pricing and selection for a suburban Chicago area dispensary, with flower options that average out to $49.75 per 1/8th ounce and a gram of concentrates setting you back $58.42 on average.
Online reviews for Hatch dispensaries in Illinois are generally positive, with over 2000 customer reviews that average out to 4.84/5.0.

6. Nature’s Treatment
Nature's Treatment is a smaller dispensary chain that makes our list and proves that it’s not just the big names who offer a wide selection of products. Nature’s Treatment of Illinois, operates just two retail dispensary storefronts in the central Illinois towns of Milan and Galesburg, currently boasts an average product selection of over 600 distinct products to choose from per location.
While Nature’s treatment offers an excellent assortment of products, their average pricing leans towards the higher end (pun intended) of the Illinois market. You can expect to pay $64.87 for a gram of concentrates at NTI, and for raw cannabis flower, the average price comes out to $51.69 per 1/8th.
Nevertheless, Nature’s Treatment of Illinois commands generally positive reviews online - with just under 200 reviews on the sites we looked at which produce an average rating of 4.4/5.0 across their two locations.

7. Curaleaf
Next on our list is Curaleaf - another massive MSO and ever-expanding retail behemoth with just over 125 total locations in 17 States across the country as of February 2022. Ten of these dispensaries are located in Illinois - most of which lie within the confines of the greater Chicago area.
With such a massive operation, it’s no surprise that Curaleaf’s Illinois dispensaries are highly rated. Each Illinois location features an average customer rating of 4.36/5.0 across over 25,000 online customer reviews - by far the most reviews received by any dispensary chain in Illinois.
Curaleaf’s Illinois storefronts offer an average selection of more than 560 unique cannabis products on sale per location, so you can be sure to find whatever types of products you’re looking for when shopping at any of their locations. Curaleaf dispensaries offer fairly consistent pricing for flower across their Illinois locations at an average of $50.14 per 1/8th of an ounce. Prices for concentrates are competitive and consistent as well, averaging $60.58 per gram.

Ascend is another large, multi-state dispensary operator with locations in Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, and New Jersey. They currently operate eight locations just in Illinois, which all started with their acquisition of both Chiagoland MOCA locations.
In Illinois, their dispensaries currently feature an average rating of 4.29/5.0 across all locations from over 3100 customer reviews. Ascend offers a strong and varied product selection, with over 573 products currently per sale per location.
You can expect to find an average price per 1/8th of flower of $51.63 at Ascend’s Illinois dispensaries. The average price for concentrates varies a bit by location, but the average for concentrates across all Ascend locations stands at a typical $59.94 per gram.

9. Trinity
Coming in at number nine on our list of top dispensaries in Illinois for product selection is central Illinois-based Trinity Compassionate Care Centers. Both of Trinity’s locations are located in Peoria, IL - with Trinity on University operating as both a medical and recreational dispensary, and Trinity on Glen catering primarily to adult-use buyers.
Trinity’s menus feature an average of over 550 unique products to choose from per location, once again proving that smaller dispensary chains in Illinois can very much still compete when it comes to product selection. Pricing at Trinity is solidly average for Illinois, with an average eighth of flower priced at $49.68 and an average gram of concentrate at $58.39.
Unfortunately, no review data was available for the two Trinity dispensary locations on the platforms that we looked at (see above for methodology).

10. Windy City Cannabis
Last on our list of top Illinois dispensaries based on product selection is Windy City Cannabis, a large and well-known dispensary brand in Illinois with six locations in the State. You may have seen some Windy City re-branded as Curaleaf dispensaries in the past year or so, and this is because Windy City was part of a massive deal in which cannabis brand Grassroots and most of its associated holdings were sold to Curaleaf. Curaleaf absorbed a few Windy City Cannabis locations as a part of the deal, and in the aftermath, the remaining locations were sold off to Texas-based multi-state cannabis operator Parallel.
Windy City offers a more than respectable product selection across its six locations, with just over 530 different cannabis products to choose from per location. Average pricing at Windy City Cannabis is fairly typical. Raw cannabis flower across their six locations comes in at an average of $50.20, and concentrates will set you back $59.85 on average.
With such a storied history and so much to offer in terms of product selection, it does not surprise us that Windy City Cannabis commands some of the strongest positive online reviews of any dispensary chain in Illinois - with over 14,800 reviews coming out to an average rating of 4.81/5.0.

Although the following dispensary chains didn’t make our top 10 list in terms of widest product selections offered, we think they deserve to be mentioned among the best in Illinois for reasons other than just having a wide selection of products available. While most of the cannabis industry’s growth has been concentrated around larger operations, the following smaller players feature impressive operations in their own rights.
Nature's Care
Nature's Care operates two locations in Illinois - one in downtown Chicago’s West Loop, and the other in the suburb of Rolling Meadows, Illinois.
Nature's Care offers one of the most competitive average prices for an 8th of cannabis flower, coming in at $51.05 per eighth across their two locations. The average price for concentrates is also very competitive at $57.72 per gram. You can expect to find a wide selection at Nature’s Care, with over 526 unique products available per location. Nature's Care Illinois dispensaries have gathered an average rating of 4.72/5.0 through more than 6900 online reviews.
Nature's Care not only offers a great product selection with competitive pricing, but they also do their part in supporting their communities. Nature's Care actively supports individuals who have been disproportionately impacted by cannabis prohibition and are focused on investing in their communities to enact positive change. Their dedication to social equity within the cannabis industry has led them to sign a first-of-its-kind Community Benefits Agreement (CBA) with the Cannabis Equity Illinois Coalition (CEIC) and the ColaGroup in 2020.

Dispensary33, recently sold to MSO Ayr Wellness, operates two locations in the Chicago area - one in Andersonville and another in the West Loop. Their original Andersonville location serves both adult-use and medical patients, while the West Loop location only caters to recreational buyers. Dispensary33 is no stranger to Chicago cannabis, as it had the honor of opening the first dispensary in Chicago back in 2015 and have done their part in supporting their local community ever since.
Dispensary33 prides itself on providing the best retail experience through a smaller selection of curated, high-quality cannabis products for sale and some of the most knowledgeable budtenders around. With that being said, don’t expect a bargain when you shop at Dispensary33 - whose flower products come in at an average price per 1/8th of $58.97 and concentrates at $64.55 per gram, currently the highest among all dispensary chains in Illinois.

Mission
Mission is one of the smaller dispensary operators in Illinois, with locations in South Chicago and Calumet City. They also operate dispensaries in Michigan and Massachusetts.
While Mission may only have two locations in Illinois, their product selection is anything but limited - offering an average of over 500 different cannabis products per location. Their two locations have an average rating of 4.31/5.0 achieved through just over 200 online customer reviews.
An 8th of an ounce of flower purchased at one of Mission’s Illinois dispensaries will set you back an average of $52.11, and a gram of concentrate will cost $60.53 on average.

Earthmed’s Illinois dispensaries have an average rating of 4.63/5.0 based on over 1500 customer reviews. Their Addison location caters to both recreational consumers and medical patients, while their secondary location in Rosemont is geared towards recreational buyers.
You can expect to find competitive pricing when you shop at Earthmed dispensaries, with the average price per 1/8th of flower coming in around $50.16 and the average price of concentrates at $59.94 per gram.
